Directions

Start by selecting a plastic bin with holes; these will serve as the base of your woven basket.

Choose zip ties in a color that matches or complements your decor.

Using the measuring tape, determine the spacing and pattern you want for weaving the zip ties through the bin’s holes.

Begin threading the zip ties through the holes of the bin, creating a pattern. You can do vertical, horizontal, or diagonal weaving depending on your preference.

Secure each zip tie by pulling it tight; make sure the head of the zip tie is on the inside of the bin to maintain a clean look outside.

Continue threading until the entire bin is covered in a woven pattern with zip ties.

Once finished, trim any excess length from the zip ties using scissors.

Inspect your work to ensure all zip ties are secure and adjust any that may be loose.

Variations & Tips

For a different aesthetic, consider using zip ties in multiple colors to create a vibrant, multi-colored pattern. You can also experiment with different weaving techniques, such as criss-cross or zig-zag patterns, to achieve various textures and styles. If you prefer a more subtle look, opt for clear or neutral-colored zip ties. Additionally, you can embellish the basket with fabric or ribbons for added flair, or attach small handles using the zip ties for easier portability.
