Modern Sculptural Lamp Base from Toilet Paper Rolls

Materials
10-12 empty toilet paper rolls
Joint compound or plaster, approximately 2 lbs
Sandpaper, medium grit
Primer, 1 can
Matte spray paint, color of choice, 1 can
Lamp kit (socket, cord, and bulb)
Wooden or metal lamp base plate, 1 piece
Glue gun with glue sticks
Craft knife or scissors
Directions
Begin by cleaning and drying the toilet paper rolls to ensure they are free of dust and debris.
Using a glue gun, stack and glue the toilet paper rolls in a staggered pattern to create an interesting geometric structure. Allow the glue to dry completely.
Carefully apply joint compound or plaster over the entire surface of the stacked rolls, using a spatula or brush to create a smooth finish. Let it dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Once the compound is dry, sand the surface gently with medium-grit sandpaper to smooth out any imperfections.
Apply a coat of primer to the structure to ensure the paint adheres well. Allow it to dry completely.
Spray the entire structure with matte spray paint in the color of your choice. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.
Attach the lamp kit to the structure, securing the socket at the top and threading the cord through the rolls. Fix the structure onto the lamp base plate.
Insert a light bulb into the socket and add a lampshade to complete the lamp.

Variations & Tips
For a different look, experiment with various colors of spray paint or use a metallic finish for a more industrial vibe. You can also vary the height and arrangement of the toilet paper rolls to create different shapes and silhouettes. Consider adding decorative elements like gold leaf or stenciled patterns to personalize the lamp base further. For a more eco-friendly option, use recycled or biodegradable materials for the rolls and compound.
