Upcycling has become a major trend on social media, and one of the hottest ideas right now is transforming empty plastic bottles into a stylish footstool ottoman. This eco-friendly project not only helps reduce waste but also adds a unique touch to your living space. Whether you’re looking to save money or simply want a fun DIY project, this ottoman is a perfect choice for any home decor enthusiast.
This DIY footstool ottoman can be styled in various ways to match your home decor. Place it in the living room next to a cozy armchair, or use it as a functional piece in a bedroom to provide seating and storage. Choose a fabric that complements your current color scheme, such as a bold pattern for a modern look or a soft neutral for a more subtle, elegant appearance. Adding a decorative tray on top can also transform it into a small side table when not in use.
Upcycled Plastic Bottle Footstool Ottoman

Materials
Empty plastic bottles (approximately 20-30, depending on size)
Strong adhesive tape
Thick piece of cardboard or plywood (circular, matching bottle circle)
Cushion foam (cut to circle shape)
Fabric or upholstery material
Scissors
Staple gun or fabric glue
Directions
Collect and clean the empty plastic bottles. Make sure they are dry and free from any labels.
Arrange the bottles into a tight circle, ensuring they fit snugly together.
Use strong adhesive tape to secure the bottles together. Wrap the tape around the bottles multiple times to ensure stability.
Cut a piece of cardboard or plywood to match the diameter of the bottle circle and place it on top.
Cut a cushion foam to the same size as the top of the ottoman and place it on the cardboard.
Cover the foam with fabric, pulling it tightly over the edges. Secure the fabric underneath with a staple gun or fabric glue.
Optionally, you can also cover the sides of the bottles with fabric for a more polished look.

Variations & Tips
There are several variations you can try with this project. For a more rustic look, consider using burlap or jute fabric. If you prefer a more luxurious feel, choose a velvet or suede material. You can also adjust the size of the ottoman by using more or fewer bottles, depending on your space requirements. Adding decorative buttons or tufting to the top can enhance the design, giving it a more sophisticated touch.
