Lady wraps pool noodles in velvet fabric. I can’t believe how popular this is becoming

Creating a tufted headboard using pool noodles and velvet fabric is a fun and innovative way to add a touch of luxury to your bedroom without breaking the bank. This DIY project is gaining popularity due to its affordability and the ability to customize it to fit any bedroom decor. A tufted headboard can instantly elevate the look of your bedroom, providing a focal point and adding a sense of sophistication. By using pool noodles wrapped in velvet, you achieve the plush, tufted appearance that is both stylish and comfortable.

This DIY tufted headboard can be styled in a variety of ways to complement your bedroom’s interior design. For a modern look, choose a rich, deep-colored velvet like navy blue or emerald green, and pair it with minimalist bedding and sleek furniture. If your style is more traditional, opt for a soft, neutral color such as beige or gray, and incorporate classic elements like wooden nightstands and ornate lamps. You can also match the headboard to the color scheme of your room for a cohesive look. Consider adding decorative throw pillows that complement the velvet fabric to enhance the overall aesthetic.

Directions

Measure the width of your bed to determine how many pool noodles you will need.

Cut the pool noodles to the desired length, which should match the height you want for your headboard.

Lay out the velvet fabric on a large flat surface and cut it into strips wide enough to wrap around each pool noodle with some excess for tucking and stapling.

Use spray adhesive to lightly attach the foam padding to the plywood, if using.

Take each pool noodle and wrap it tightly with a strip of velvet fabric, securing the ends with a staple gun. Make sure the velvet is smooth and taut.

Align the wrapped pool noodles vertically on the plywood, covering it completely. Use the staple gun to attach the wrapped noodles to the plywood, ensuring they are evenly spaced and secure.

Once all noodles are attached, trim any excess fabric from the back and staple all edges securely.

If desired, attach Velcro strips to the back of the headboard and the wall for easy installation and removal.

Mount the headboard on the wall above your bed or attach it to your bed frame, ensuring it is stable and aligned.

Variations & Tips

To vary this DIY, consider experimenting with different types of fabric. Besides velvet, you might try using faux leather for a modern, sleek look, or a textured fabric for added dimension. You can also play with patterns, such as stripes or florals, to create a unique design statement. For a more dramatic effect, consider using longer pool noodles for a taller headboard, or adding decorative buttons or studs to enhance the tufted appearance. Additionally, using different colors for each noodle can create a fun, playful look perfect for a child’s room.
